Lateralization in children
Lateralization, what exactly is it? Does such a thing as lateralization problems even exist? Where does this term originate, and how accurate is it to use as a diagnosis? Until what age is it normal for children to alternate between their right and left hand? What can we do for children who mirror letters and numbers? At what age is it appropriate to refer children for professional help?
These and many other questions will be addressed at the lecture "Lateralization in Children: A Critical Look at Myths and Facts." Emma and Stéphanie, two specialized pediatric physiotherapists, will guide you through the scientific evidence surrounding this much-discussed topic. In addition to a theoretical framework, they will also discuss tools for use in the classroom, indications/signals for therapy, and concrete case studies, and there will be time for questions and discussion.
