Kindercentrum De Groeitrap, a multidisciplinary center that has been growing for many years, not only with children who need special care and attention, but also with parents who fully support their children, and in turn, support us. Parents who share the same concerns and joys, parents learning to understand children who are different, their children who are different. Parents who spend hours together in the waiting room or practice, and grow into a true circle of friends.

De Groeitrap also has such a circle of friends, a close community of parents and caregivers who have the best of their children at heart, and beyond that, the well-being of others. Of course, with these children, it's not all hard work, a healthy dose of fun is equally important. That's why we organize various activities every year, culminating in a shared family holiday. Everyone is different, and everyone comes with their own story. That’s exactly what makes our holiday so special. Everyone is accepted as they are, and everything happens at a pace suited to each individual, taking into account everyone’s talents and abilities. Young and old work together to ensure that all children have the time of their lives.

Accessibility is key!

Holiday home Fabiola in Maasmechelen – our annual destination – is an accessible location where enjoyment is central & daily worries can be set aside for a while. It is a large property with many advantages for a large, diverse group like ours, where all our children, but also brothers and sisters, friends and companions, feel completely at home.

That is why Holiday Home Fabiola is perfect for us. Relaxation is tailored to our needs, with a swimming pool, a playground, a forest, a sports hall and several indoor spaces that are also adapted for our children with disabilities. In addition it is located in the beautiful Limburg region, which gives our group the opportunity to organize tailor-made activities and excursions, carefully planned each year by de Vriendenkring.

Beyond all this relaxation, our holiday wouldn’t truly be our holiday without taking into account the necessary tailored care. Many of our children, unfortunately, do not benefit from a week away without therapy or guidance. That’s why we are always ready to provide physiotherapy, speech therapy, psychology, or coaching during the holiday, with great enthusiasm and dedication, wherever it is needed!

During the recent spring break, we once again went out on an adventure with a group of just under 100 people, young and old. It was a fantastic week to remember! In addition to the daily splash in the swimming pool, the program included activities such as crafting, rocket launching, a sports afternoon, laser shooting, graffiti, a pyjama party, escape room, and a visit to the military domain of Kleine Brogel, amongst others. The many happy faces showed that everyone had a wonderful time.
