Over the course of a trimester, we take your cognitively gifted child on eight full Thursdays along our ‘Groeipad’ for an engaging adventure. On this path, children develop a wide range of skills through challenging assignments and projects: persevering through difficulties, putting in effort to achieve goals, asking for help when needed, and learning from mistakes.

In addition to fostering a growth mindset, we focus on collaboration and strengthening executive functions such as planning, emotional regulation, and metacognition. We also provide psycho-education, helping children understand what giftedness is and how to deal with it.

Each week, children are immersed in a new adventure, exploring different domains such as creative thinking, sports and games, cognitive skills, music, and philosophy. Excursions are, of course, part of the program.

The sessions emphasize the learning process rather than the outcome, ensuring that children experience meaningful growth.

Finally, it is crucial that these experiences take place in a safe environment. By spending valuable time in a group of like-minded peers, children have the opportunity to feel genuinely comfortable and connect more easily with others. To guide them optimally along their Groeipad, we work with giftedness experts (Evy Van Dongen and Bjorn Zwakhoven) and maintain small group sizes, with a maximum of six children per facilitator.

Trimester 1 - Groeipad 3

• Who? Children from the 5th and 6th grade
• Dates: From September to December
• Time: From 9am to 4pm

Trimester 2 - Groeipad 2

• Who: Children from the 3rd and 4th grade
• Dates: From January to March.
• Time: From 9am to 4pm.

Trimester 3 - Groeipad 1

• Who: Children from the 1st and 2nd grade
• Dates: April to June
• Time: From 9am to 4pm.

Location: The sessions will take place partly in Kindercentrum De Groeitrap in Bertem and partly at Music for Kids Leuven on the scheutsite in Kessel-Lo. Exact locations will be communicated in time.

Price: 950 euros (including 21% VAT, materials, drinks, weekly feedback by email and an online conversation to conclude the trajectory). If desired, an individual report can be provided for an additional charge of 75 euros.
