For eight full Thursdays during a trimester, we'll take your cognitively gifted child on our 'Groeipad' for an exciting adventure. On this path, children develop a wide range of skills through challenging assignments and projects: learning to persevere through difficult times, putting in the effort to achieve something, asking for help when needed, and learning from mistakes.

Besides working on mindset, we also focus on learning to collaborate and strengthening executive functions (planning, emotion regulation, metacognition, etc.). We also focus on psychoeducation: What is giftedness and how do I deal with it?

Every week, the children are immersed in a new adventure that can span various areas (creative thinking, sports and games, cognitive skills, music, philosophy, etc.). An excursion is, of course, a must-do!

The focus during the sessions will always be on the process, not so much on the results. After all, we want to ensure that the children experience positive growth.

Finally, it's important that these experiences take place in a safe environment. Because the children spend valuable time in a group of like-minded peers, they have the opportunity to truly thrive and connect more quickly. To optimally guide them on their 'Groeipad' we work with experts in giftedness (Evy Van Dongen and Bjorn Zwakhoven) and choose to work with small groups (maximum 6 children per facilitator).

PRACTICAL INFORMATION GROEIPAD

Trimester 1 - Groeipad 3

• Who? Children from ^5th and 6th ^grade
• Dates: From September to December
  This program will take place during the first trimester on the following dates: September 11, September 25, October 9, October 23, November 6, November 13, November 27, and December 4. A total of eight full days from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. On December 11, individual feedback sessions will be held with the parents during the day to provide feedback on each child's progress.

Trimester 2 - Groeipad 2

• Who: Children from the ^3rd and 4th ^grade
• Dates: From January to March.
  This program will take place in the second trimester on the following dates: January 15, January 22, January 29, February 12, February 26, March 5, March 12, and March 19. A total of eight full days from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. On March 26, individual feedback sessions will be held with the parents during the day to provide feedback on each child's progress.

Trimester 3 - Groeipad 1

• Who: Children from the ^1st and 2nd ^grade
• Dates: From April to June
  This program will take place in the third trimester on the following dates: April 23, April 30, May 7, May 21, May 28, June 4, June 11, and June 18. A total of eight full days from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. On June 18 (evening) and June 19 (morning), individual feedback sessions will be held with the parents to provide feedback on each child's progress.

Location : The sessions will be held partly at Kindercentrum De Groeitrap in Bertem and partly at Begaafd in Balans in Kessel-Lo. Exact locations will be communicated in due course.

Price : €950 (including 21% VAT, materials, refreshments, weekly email feedback, and an online meeting to conclude the program). A personalized report can be provided upon request for an additional €75.
